Fr. Rewis was born and raised in Tanta, Egypt. He grew up in St. George’s Cathedral in Tanta, Egypt. He graduated with a Bachelor Degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the Tanta School of Pharmacy in 1979, and was also a graduate of theological studies from the Tanta Theological Seminary under the auspices of H.G. the late Bishop Yoannes of Tanta. He was ordained a priest on February 18th, 1990 by H.G. Bishop Paula in Tanta, Egypt for St. Demiana and St. Bishoy Coptic Orthodox Church in Tanta. He taught Church Hymns and Rites at the Institute of Hymnology in the Tanta Theological Seminary from 1990-1993. Under the direction of H.H. the late Pope Shenouda III, Fr. Rewis and his family moved to Wisconsin January 3rd, 1993 to serve at St. Mary and St. Antonious Coptic Orthodox Church in Milwaukee, WI. He currently teaches at three theological seminaries belonging to the Southern Diocese under the auspices of H.G. Bishop Youssef. He started at the seminaries in 2008. On September 24th, 2018, by the apostolic hands of H.H. Pope Tawadros II at St. Mark Coptic Orthodox Church in Jersey City, NJ, Fr. Rewis was elevated to the rank of Heguman.
